Josh Vela has damage the lateral ligament in his left knee, which will keep him out until January, in the defeat at Crawley on Tuesday.

Vela, making his first start for the club, only lasted 6 minutes before he had to come off to be replaced by Keith Andrews.

Owen Coyle has issued a statement on the injury and said "Josh landed awkwardly and that is how the damage has been done,"

"We feel for him because he had a period of injury last season, but he bounced back from that and appeared in the Premier League where he showed his quality.

"He will bounce back from this too and we will give him every ounce of help to make sure that he returns and becomes the top player that we all believe he can be."

Bolton Nuts would like to wish Josh a full and speedy recovery.

Bolton sign Spearing on loan!

Bolton has today signed Liverpool’s Jay Spearing on a six months loan deal.  This is despite reported interest from Aston Villa and QPR.

Owen Coyle, who is a big admirer of Spearing, sees him as a key addition to his side as he look to mount a bid for promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

It was hoped that the deal would lead to a permanent signing following the loan spell but Spearing hopes to return to Liverpool and try and establish himself in the first team.  But with the recent signings of Joe Allen and Nuri Sahin, this would seem to suggest Liverpool have different ideas.  The 6 months compromise deal was happily accepted by all parties. could make a permanent exit at the end of his loan stay

The 23 year old may make his debut away at Hull on Saturday, however it is noted that Coyle usually likes to get his new signings acclimatised to the 'Bolton way' by first undertaking a lengthy spell on the substitutes bench.

Former Bolton Player and Fans Liaison Officer, Tony Kelly (affectionately known by his many fans as Zico) is recovering from a heart attack.

Tony tweeted himself to confirm that he had suffered one and thanked everyone for the concern about his
health.

"‏@TonyZicoKelly  For everyone asking I've had a heart attack and ill be fine I get my inspiration from @fmuamba and ill be back fitter and stronger godbless"

Following on from the untimely death of Gary Speed and the heart issues suffered by Fabrice Muamba, it has been an exceptionally bad year for the club and its former players, both on and off the pitch.

The Bolton Nuts wishes 'Zico' a speedy recovery and have opened a thread on its forum where updates on Tony's recuperation will be posted. (Here)

Here are a few snippets from the list...

Q3. For Owen Coyle. What is the bare minimum requirement for this season? What is considered failure?
OC: We want to return to the PL. OC believes squad can get back to PL and wants to achieve it. Failure would be not getting promoted this season.

Q10. Question regarding Marvin Sordell getting more games.
OC: Sordell will be outstanding for the club. Difficulty in fitting him in last season. Sordell probably best finisher at the club.

...and finally, find out Wanderers' chairman Phil Gartside's response to this stunning question:
To Phil Gartside. Do you accept that you are the common denominator in the demise of the club?
