Blake has been pleased to see Scottish full-back McNaughton aid the Whites revival which has seen them put together an eight-match unbeaten run.
And he is confident young forward Mason, who joined Cardiff from Plymouth for £250,000 two years ago, can hit the ground running with McNaughton’s help after finally sealing his Reebok switch at the second attempt yesterday.
Blake said: “It is great for Joe to have Kevin at Bolton because it is a familiar face straight away.
“There is nothing worse than going to a new club and having to settle but Joe will not have that.
“Kevin will be able to help him off the field as well which I think will help Joe hit the ground running.
“Joe has shown he can score goals at Championship level in the last two seasons at Cardiff and I am sure he will do that for Bolton and enjoy success like Kevin has.”
Blake is a regular radio summariser for Cardiff City matches and is not surprised veteran defender McNaughton has been in consistent form during his loan spell with Wanderers which was extended for a further two months recently after his initial month expired.
The 41-year-old ex-Wanderer added: “Kevin is a great professional and has given Cardiff great service for many years.
“I knew wherever he went would benefit and that has been the case at my old club Bolton.
“He was one of the best defenders in the Championship at Cardiff and I expect he is again now.
“He is not only a good defender but gets forward well too.
“I was not surprised when his loan got extended and if both he and Joe can help fire Bolton up the table it will be great for everyone involved.”
