Chris Eagles set to soar for Bolton Wanderers says boss Dougie Freedman

Dougie Freedman hailed his strike force after they performed a demolition job on Doncaster.

Wanderers bounced back in emphatic style after successive defeats to record their best win of the season, setting themselves up nicely for next weekend’s derby clash with Wigan Athletic.

On-loan Cardiff City striker Joe Mason capped his full debut with the opening goal, while Brazilian playmaker Andre Moritz, Korean ace Chung-Yong Lee and the returning Darren Pratley all played their part in the most comprehensive win of the campaign.

Moritz and second-half sub Neil Danns supplied the other goals in what proved a one-sided contest.

Chris Eagles was back in the side for the first time since October – and the winger, out of contract in the summer, showed exactly why he still has a major role for Wanderers, claims Dougie Freedman. “I know there is speculation about his contract but Chris Eagles has got a future,” said the Whites boss.

“Simple facts are we had to grind out a couple of results and when we have ground out a couple of results, there’s no better man to bring in than a fresh Chris Eagles over the Christmas period. “None of my forward players will play 10-15 games in a row. They have all got to have a rest. Chris has a big part to play in the future.”

Freedman also laid effusive praise on the performance of Moritz, scorer of the second goal of the afternoon.

The Brazilian was completing only his second start for the club since signing on a free transfer in the summer but the Wanderers boss reckons there is still room for improvement on what fans witnessed against Doncaster.

“Andre was a level above anything else I saw with his composure and the way he sets people up,” he said. “I thought a few of them worked hard. Joe Mason came in and did well, I thought Chris Eagles did well and showed great energy. Andre linked it all; midfield to attack.

“You have not seen much of him. I brought him in but he had unbelievable bad luck with two injuries. “I know how good he is and you are just starting to see glimpses of him.”
