Manager's Leicester reaction

Despite his team finding themselves on the wrong side of a 5-3 score line against Leicester on Sunday afternoon, manager Dougie Freedman admitted that the game is one which Wanderers were unfortunate to lose.

With the first half at the King Power Stadium seeing the Whites come from behind to take the lead on two occasions, Lloyd Dyer and Gary Taylor-Fletcher’s strikes late in the game ensured that Wanderers would leave empty handed.

A result which the manager confessed was a disappointing one given that his side scored three times away from home, Freedman explained that the defeat was one which could have easily been avoided.

“We had a game plan which was simply to score more goals than Leicester because we knew they were a goal threat,” he said following the final whistle.

“Our quality going forward was very good and we scored three goals against a team that are in my mind, a million times better than many teams in this division.

“Leicester will win the league in my opinion and we gave them a real good game, but we couldn’t hold on defensively in the second half and that is what has let us down. It’s been small mistakes from us, and that is what has cost us.”

He added: “We need to analyse the game and be professional about it – we’ve come to Leicester and scored three goals, and we’ve had opportunities to score more, so I’m not going to be too disappointed.

“Defensively, we’ve got to make sure that we’re switched on – before Leicester scored their fourth, we had plenty of chances to take the lead ourselves and if we’d have got that goal, it would have been a different game.

“We can’t look back though – we’ve got to look forward and push on.”
