The Whites begin a busy festive period with a tasty local derby against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium on Sunday, with the game having been put back 24 hours due to the Latics’ involvement in the Europa League.
Ream, who has started all but four league games for Dougie Freedman’s men so far this season was pleased with the way Bolton raced out of the traps against Doncaster at the Reebok.
“It was good to score three goals and keep a clean sheet. Hopefully now this will be the start of another good run with Wigan coming up next weekend,” he said. “We started the game against Doncaster with a lot of energy and we kept on going throughout the match.
“From the word go we did some really good things with the ball going forward and we did what we needed to do by keeping the ball out of the back of the net.
“It is always nice to score goals but keeping clean sheets means you are always guaranteed to be in the game. We have tried to knuckle down and we did a really good job during our unbeaten run.”
In recent weeks defender Ream has played a crucial role in stabilising Bolton’s backline, with the defender forming a strong partnership alongside Matt Mills.
Talking about their partnership and the defence as a whole, Ream continued: “We wanted to get our defensive stability back and we did that at the weekend.
“We train hard during the week and the communication levels between the five of us is really good right now.
“Matt brings some different things to the table that I don’t and vice versa. It is a good partnership and one that works well.”
He added: “We complement each other, he brings a physicality and Matt wins a lot of headers but he also knows he can give me the ball and can get us out of trouble.
“It is a partnership that is very complimentary and one that really works well together so far and we want to keep that going.”
