Wanderers’ Under 18s will be hoping for a repeat of last season’s cup exploits when they entertain Sheffield United in the FA Youth Cup third round tie at the Reebok Stadium on Friday evening.

With their opponents from the Steel City having secured a trip to BL6 courtesy of an emphatic 9-0 victory over their Worcester City counterparts in the last round, the Whites’ youngsters will no doubt take confidence from their impressive run in the competition during the 2012/13 campaign – one which took them all the way to the quarter finals.

Despite ultimately exiting the tournament following a 3-2 extra time defeat to Nottingham Forest back in February, David Lee & Tony Kelly’s youngsters did leave their mark with an incredible 8-4 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in the previous round.

Having secured their first victory of the season last weekend with a comprehensive 4-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Lostock, the club’s Under 18 side will certainly be relishing Friday’s clash under the Reebok floodlights.

They will however come up against a United team who have enjoyed a relatively successful start to their own domestic campaign, picking up eight wins so far in all competitions including one against high flying Huddersfield Town in their last outing.

Despite their impressive win total so far however, the Blades’ young guns have slipped to six defeats this term to the likes of Coventry City and Queens Park Rangers.

With a place in the fourth round of the competition up for grabs for the victorious team, the clash looks set to be a feisty one come kick off.

For supporters wishing to attend the game, entry will cost £3 for adults and £1 for concessions on the turnstiles with kick off scheduled for 7pm.
