Wanderers’ Under 21 side welcome Barnsley to the County Ground on Tuesday evening for an U21s Premier League Cup clash.
With a place in the last 16 of the competition at stake, the Whites will be hoping to carry on where they left off against Bury last week where they ran out 3-0 winners in their final Manchester FA Senior Challenge Cup group match.
Following on from such a comprehensive victory over the Shakers, confidence amongst the Bolton youngsters will no doubt be high ahead of the visit of Barnsley.
Wanderers’ opponents however enter the clash on the back of an impressive start to the season with five victories, one draw and just two defeats so far this term.
They did suffer a 3-1 reverse at the hands of their Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United last time out, but secured a tie with the Whites thanks to a 4-3 win over Leeds United in the last round of the competition at the end of October.
With just two defeats on home soil for Wanderers this season though, the Tykes will certainly come up against a determined side come kick off on Tuesday evening.
In terms of team news, Bolton look likely to name a similar side to that which started against Bury, with the likes of Jan Gregus, Zach Clough and Tom Youngs set to feature for the club’s second string.
The game itself will kick off at 7pm and entry is free for season ticket holders, £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
